Name: Julie Whaley
Age-Group: 40-44 (just!)
Occupation: Full-time Triathlon Coach and Junior Co-ordinator for Absolute Tri Club
Competing in triathlon since: September 2009
Favourite Triathlon and why: My first triathlon was Southwell, Essendex which I swam breast stroke as I didn't know how to swim front crawl, trained on a mountain bike up to 2 weeks before and competed in my swimming costume with a pair of run shorts over the top for the bike and run. It was a beautiful autumn day and I remember doing the whole race with a smile on my face. I crossed the finish line elated and was hooked on triathlon from then on in!
2016 Tri season aims: to remain injury and illness free to enable me to actually compete this year!! If I succeed in this then I will have achieved my primary aims with my secondary aims being:
to enjoy each race;
to get my nutrition and hydration nailed on the bike;
to have a strong run off the bike.
