It was my first experience of a simulated beach run in start, to which I managed to gain clear space. The nature of the swim course meant it was 2 laps, where I made up places on the run back into the water. After the quickest female T1, I became a member of the main chase group, where we pushed a strong pace, aiding us work our way through the field. Coming off the bike, I was in a great position but after one of the fastest bike splits, the best had really been taken out of me, and not one of my best runs meant I finished down in 11th. I wasn’t expecting anything amazing due to being in the middle of my exams, which take priority and neither was it my main goal of the season. Highlighting ares that perhaps had been neglected in my winter training, I now have some key focus points to work on before my next competition.
