The race started well, I had a good run in from the beach and a good sprint which got me into the top 10 at the beginning of the swim, but then when I got to the first buoy I started to fatigue and by the end of the first lap I was about 25th – 30th. During the second lap I regained a bit if speed and managed to overtake a few people. Transition was decent and the start of my bike was just overtaking lots of people. I tried to form a group but ended up going off the front and on my own for a bit. After a while the people behind me managed to form a working group and caught up with me where a few – such as Mary Hodgson and Hollie Hindley – worked together at the front to push the pace. We managed to catch the next group in front and came into transition as the chase pack with 9 athletes up ahead. I managed a decent run however I ended up finishing 12th which was not what I had expected or hoped for.
